“Nel progetto Nest, le fotografie di Gianluca Maver si caricano di senso assoluto attraverso un’osservazione che replica il paradigma del montaggio filmico. Come nelle vignette di un fumetto o in parti di fregi degli antichi templi classici, il messaggio è reso palese dal collage delle immagini che il fruitore compone di volta in volta. La relazione, che trova conferma nel video Nest # 001, in cui l’elemento visivo e quello sonoro si compenetrano indissolubilmente, esprime, pur lasciando libertà d’interpretazione, il punto di vista dell’autore. In primissimo piano, isolate dal contesto di appartenenza, l’artista propone al pubblico inquadrature di nidi, radici, piante e uccelli con l’intento di ragionare sul rapporto precario in vigore tra uomo e ambiente. Il cinguettio metodico, che ascoltiamo nell’opera video, interrotto bruscamente dai secchi spari di un cacciatore, manifesta metaforicamente una netta interferenza nell’equilibrio del sistema naturale. Il bulbo selvatico è sradicato, il volatile appare privo di vita, ma il nido, nella sua estrema instabilità strutturale, rimane ben saldo tra i rami di un albero. Simbolo di pace domestica, il rifugio boschivo rimanda inevitabilmente all’idea di grembo materno che, nella sua essenza dicotomica, è potenza generatrice e contemporaneamente organo di estrema fragilità. Non c’è dubbio: è necessario agire e prendere una posizione, pena la cristallizzazione.” (Noemi Pittaluga).

”In the Nest project, the photographs by Gianluca Maver are loaded with absolute meaning through an observation that replicates the paradigm of film editing. As in cartoons in a comic book or in parts of friezes in ancient classical temples, the message is made clear through a collage of images the viewer composes each time. The relation found in the Nest # 001 video, in which the visual element and the sound indissolubly blend, expresses, while leaving freedom of interpretation, the author’s point of view.  Right in the foreground, isolated from where they belonged, the artist provides the public with details of nests, roots, plants and birds with the aim of reflecting on the precarious relationship between man and the environment. The customary chirping we hear in the video, abruptly interrupted by the hunter’s gun shots, metaphorically demonstrates a clear-cut interference with the balance of the natural system.  The wild bulb is uprooted, the bird appears lifeless, but the nest, despite its extreme structural instability, remains firmly among the branches of a the tree. A symbol of domestic peace, the forest refuge inevitably relates to the idea of a mother’s womb which, at its dichotomous core, is a procreative power and, at the same time, an extremely fragile organ.
